LezleeAnne, a.k.a. Leslie-Anne Rios, previously known as Les Rios (first 3 CD's), is
a survivor, transsexual, controversial entity, natural entertainer and a serious musician
who has overcome many obstacles and continues to shine brighter as her star rises. Her
deeper story includes gender-identity crisis, poverty and running away to join the carnival
at age 16. The drugs, booze, crimes and misdemeanors are, like with many rock stars,
interesting but better left said elsewhere ; it's what gives LezleeAnne depth and passion
as a dynamic guitarist, singer-songwriter and performer.
LezleeAnne was born in Massachusetts and raised in Nova Scotia. She grew up hearing
country music and revolutionary folk and was given a drum set at age 5 because she was
keeping perfect beat with the songs on the radio. She learned early-on the importance of
great lyrics and a strong beat. At 9 years old she switched to playing guitar. LezleeAnne
spent her teenage years playing to the radio or jamming with her drum-playing brother.
During these teen years is when she started writing her own songs. LezleeAnne's early
influences include the Rolling Stones, the Who, Deep Purple, Grand Funk, the Guess Who,
Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Aerosmith, the Allman Brothers, the Grateful Dead,
April Wine; all the hard rock & acid rock bands of that era. In college, she fronted a couple
of punk / funk bands in the vein of her favorite band of that time, the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
LezleeAnne began her professional music career in 1997 in small clubs and coffee
houses throughout Vermont as a solo-acoustic act, sometimes adding a percussionist.
By the new millenium LezleeAnne had expanded her touring to include upstate New York,
New Hampshire, Maine and Mass., as well as Eastern Canada, adding Nova Scotia,
New Brunswick and Ontario to her schedule. The year 2000 : based in Nova Scotia,
released 2nd CD, touring continuously from Toronto to Halifax, all over New England,
eventually doing a tour of Southern Florida. By 2001, she was back to the band scene,
playing bigger venues in all the major cities throughout New England. By 2004 she had
accumulated enough live material to release her 3rd CD, " Live 03 ". During all of this
she did many live TV and radio shows including " Breakfast Television " - CTV, Halifax;
" First News " - WAVI/CBS-TV, Bangor, ME; " Atlantic Airwaves" - CBC Radio Canada;
" All Things Considered" - Maine Public Radio, Portland; " All The Traditions " - Vermont
Public Radio plus several other regional live radio shows from Toronto to Massachusetts.
After 1150 shows in 150 cities, covering ¼-million miles in 2 countries, LezleeAnne
left the road to record, produce & release her lastest CD, " QUEEN OF THE WORLD ".
